David Boyd 1924 - Present

Style
Landscape and Figurative Expressionist painter and print maker

Career Status
Blue Chip

Biography
Like his older brother Arthur, David embarked on an artistic career while still living in the family enclave in Murrumbeena. Recognition as a master potter came first, as he began a long creative partnership in ceramics with his wife, Hermia Lloyd-Jones.

David's painting career began in 1957 with the 'Explorers' series, which provoked a storm of controversy — as did subsequent paintings on the history of Tasmania's Aborigines and on the law.

In 1961, David and his family moved to Rome and then to London, where he quickly received international recognition for his art. The family returned to Australia in 1975 to live. Like his older brother, David hopes to gift his Sydney home and studio to the public as an arts centre and museum.
