Born in Sheffield, England, in 1960, David Bromley came to

Australia as a small child. He started his career first as a

potter, and then turned to painting.

David Bromley’s has developed two distinct themes and

styles of painting – the nude female portrait and the

children’s series. The female portrait explores the female

form, commonly the paintings are of models from fashion

or film. The portraits are commanding and seductive.

Bromley’s children series focuses on the spills and thrills of

children – often he centers on the adolescent years where

he believes life is at its most intense and demands are at

their strongest.

Bromley makes use of layering and texturing techniques

and employs mediums such as metallic paint or metal leaf

combined with strong black outlines and bold colours.
