Robert Henry Dickerson AO (1924 – 2015) was an

Australian figurative painter and former member of

the Antipodeans group of artists.

Dickerson is one of Australia's most recognised

figurative artists and one of a generation of

influential artists.

A self-taught painter, inspired by people and scenes

of everyday life, his work is often described as

melancholy, with isolated figures, menacing dark

streetscapes and anguished facial expressions

characterising his painting which are executed in a

range of materials including paint, pastels, charcoals

and other graphic media.
